Who will be Obama’s VP?
Obama knows, but saying Thursday, “I won’t comment on anything else until I introduce our running mate to the world. That’s all you’re going to get out of me.”
Most of this week’s buzz has been around Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh, Delaware Sen. Joe Biden and Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine.
Ralph Nader tells Politico.com that Obama wouldn’t be “that dumb” to pick Bayh or Biden to be vice president.” He says Clinton is the smart choice because she is the only person who would help Obama get more votes. “And if he’s going to say, ‘One people, one nation,’ he can raise the banner of unity with her as his vice presidential running mate.”
Along with Nader, like it or not, Hillary is my “best educated guess.” Though I still believe Richardson’s the best fit.

Obama is getting close picking his VP and he will visit New Mexico, 8/18/08.
Also, the Denver Post endorses Bill Richardson as Obama’s VP.

President Bush squandered a $236 billion surplus, ran up record deficits and added nearly $4 trillion to the national debt. Mr. President, we will be forever in your debt. -House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel of Illinois

U.S. Senator Jim Webb (Va.) has recently stated he’s not interested in becoming Obama’s VP. The news worthy bit about this is that he was a front-runner candidate by almost every account. Even though he says he“entered elective politics because of my commitment to strengthen America’s national security posture, to promote economic fairness and to increase government accountability,” Jim feels he’s most effective in the Senate (bad logic imo).
For Barack and Bill fans, this paves the way for Bill to become the favorite after Hillary in my account.

From Washington Post: And when asked what qualities he thought Obama should be looking for in a good running mate, Richardson offered a purely objective analysis of an ideal hypothetical running mate that sounded a lot like — Bill Richardson.
“Regional balance,” Richardson said should be a top consideration, and he pointed out that the recent Democratic presidential coalitions have consisted of the East Coast, the West Coast, and not much in between. “We’ve ignored the Southwest,” he continued. “We’ve ignored the Southwest Hispanic vote.”
He added, “If John Kerry had won New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado — states he lost by two or three percent — he’d be president today.”
Sounds a lot like an argument for an Obama-Richardson ticket.
Also, I found a unofficial Bill Richardson for VP website: here
